We can’t thank the fans enough – Fielding

first_imgMore than 1,000 supporters will be making the trip to the City Ground when Lee Johnson’s side face Nottingham Forest this Saturday (April 28th, 3pm kick-off).The Robins continue to fight for a play-off spot with two games to go. A win is needed at Forest to keep those hopes alive and the fans play a pivotal role in helping to make that happen.Previewing City’s penultimate match of the 2017/18 season, Fielding told BCTV: “They [our fans] have been tremendous this season and are a full force wherever we go. We can’t thank them enough.”Both City and Forest want to end their seasons on a high and we both believe we can win. Anyone can beat anyone in the Championship but we believe we can get the three points.”And the City keeper believes former teammate Lee Tomlin will be one to watch this weekend. He spent two season in BS3, one on loan, before departing for Cardiff City who loaned the midfielder to the Reds in January.Tomlin played a key role in Forest’s 3-0 victory over Barnsley on Tuesday night, scoring and assisting in the clash with the relegation-threatened side.Fielding continued: “They got a positive result on Tuesday night. Tomlin scored and set one up so we’ll both be working on each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”They are a team in transition at the moment and we’ll try to see focus and go and get a result.”SECURE YOUR ticketslast_img read more

Roque gives PH a high 85-percent grade in fight against the pandemic

first_imgSIGN UP TO DAILY NEWSLETTERCLICK HERE TO SIGN-UP The Philippines deserves a 85-percent grade in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic since the country has a low mortality rate, the “best testing policy” in Asia, and improved healthcare capacity, Malacañang said Tuesday.(Photo by Ted ALJIBE / AFP)Presidential spokesman Harry Roque gave the passing mark after the government’s efforts, such as quarantine measures, saved the country from having 3 million coronavirus cases last July.“All in all, I think we deserve a very good grade. I would give it a grade of 85%,” he said during a televised press briefing Tuesday.Roque highlighted that the country has a low mortality rate of 1.7 percent, saying it proves that “Filipino doctors know how to take care of COVID patients.”Roque likewise took pride in the improved testing capacity in the country, saying it is the nation’s “biggest strength” in the fight against the pandemic.“We clearly have the best testing policy in the whole of Asia and probably in the whole world because we have exceeded three million,” he said. “I think we will have the highest number of testing, one of the highest in the whole world.  So, that’s clearly, our biggest strength,” he added.Roque also cited that the country’s healthcare system is also “not overwhelmed.” At least 50 percent of the 1,900 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are available while 73 percent of the 2,200 ventilators are not yet in use. Roque admitted though that the country must improve its tracing and isolation efforts to prevent the spread of the illness.  “We need to brush up in our tracing,” he said. He expressed hope that the contact tracing efforts will be given a shot in the arm with the passage of the Bayanihan 2 law, that allots P5 billion for the hiring of contact tracers.  “We will have major inroads and successes using also the Magalong formula,” he said.He said the more isolation facilities should be established to house people with the coronavirus. The government earlier put on hold a plan to ban home quarantine pending consultations with local government units.“One limitation of course is we don’t have enough isolation facilities. So dapat mas marami pang isolation facilities ang ating itayo (so we must build more isolation facilities),” he said.As of September 15, the country has recorded 269,407 cases of coronavirus with 4,663 deaths and 207,352 recoveries. At 2.9 million individuals have so far taken the coronavirus test based on the Department of Health data. Of the people tested, 10.6 percent tested positive for the illness. The government has gradually relaxed the strict lockdown measures, allowing more businesses to reopen and people to resume their livelihood. The easing of the quarantine measures aims to revitalize the economy, which has been weakened by the pandemic.last_img read more

Keep in mind, a right-handed passer’s right foot is his “plant foot.” It’s the one he pushes off to make his throws. His teammates saw him struggle with it all week long. Still, to a man, they say they never expected anything less.Take it from Evan Engram, the hybrid end who plays tight end and runs like a wide receiver.“Everybody in this locker room believes in Bo,” Engram said. “He played huge. I knew he would. He’s a great leader. He’s our leader. He’s a winner. You could have chopped his ankle off, and he would have played (Saturday).”If ever a player has embodied his team, he is Wallace. He has played through injuries. So have the Rebels. He has played through criticism on the Internet, in the newspapers and, at times, from his own fans. So have the Rebels. He has played through excruciating, heartbreaking losses and then a blowout last week at Arkansas. So have his teammates. On the final day of this most memorable of Mississippi football seasons, Wallace and the Rebels persevered and won — if not their biggest victory of the year, one that certainly rivals the fourth quarter rally to knock off No. 1 Alabama.Said Hugh Freeze of his senior quarterback: “I hope this cements his memory here at Ole Miss in a positive light, because he really deserves that.” ■ ■ ■ Numbers do not always define a quarterback, as witnessed by Wallace’s 13 for 30 on this afternoon. But, just for the moment, consider these numbers: He has led Ole Miss to 24 victories over three seasons, never missing a start. He will have led the Rebels to three bowl games. Win the upcoming bowl, and he will have led Ole Miss to three bowl victories. He has become the Ole Miss career total offense leader, passing the sainted Eli Manning. Saturday, he moved in the top 10 all-time in total offense in the Southeastern Conference. That’s right: Only nine players in SEC history have accounted for more yardage than Bo. So much for all that “Good Bo” and “Bad Bo” stuff. Take everything into consideration — he has been better than good over the long haul. This, from a guy who was scarcely recruited out of high school. This, from a guy who played his first two seasons here with a painful throwing shoulder. ■ ■ ■ Freeze insisted the joy from Saturday’s victory came not from knocking an arch-rival out of the national playoff picture.“This was about us,” Freeze said. “Not them.”So disheartening was a 30-0 loss to Arkansas a week earlier that Freeze admitted he lost sleep that Saturday trying to decide how to address his squad the next day.“I didn’t know whether to hug ’em and love on them or kick them in the tail,” Freeze said.He decided on the latter.“We did some things Sunday to remind them how important this was,” Freeze said.Wallace needed no reminder. He was part of a rousing 41-24 victory over the Bulldogs here two years ago. He was part of an excruciating 17-10 overtime loss to Mississippi State at Starkville last year. Wallace was running into the end zone for the tying score in overtime when the ball was stripped away. MSU recovered for the victory. Fairly or not, Bo was considered the goat.“There hasn’t been a day I haven’t thought about it,” Wallace said. “That’s what pushed me the entire season.”It kept him going through injuries to LaQuon Treadwell and Laremy Tunsil. It kept him going Saturday when Vince Sanders went down. It helped him to play though his own ankle injury.Said Wallace afterward: “I can’t even put into words how great this feels.”All things considered, there was no need.Rick Cleveland (rcleveland@msfame.com) is executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.last_img read more

I don’t dispute that the script was around for a lot of success and that the fanbase likes it.  I am simply saying that I don’t like it.  Regarding the style guide, I do think the script was at it’s worst when it was black on top of a red “N.”  It was a great example of black sort of washing a logo or scheme out (like it does with the entire Clippers look).  I am still not fond of it (particularly the “H” and the “k”); I think it’s too informal, for lack of a better word, though red-on-white and white-on-red makes it serviceable. sleuthpanther Share this post The new Herbie standalone head looks fine from a design standpoint, but why does the full-bodied Herbie have different eyes, hair, and unsmooth lines.
